Cinnamon
- Lowers blood sugar levels. Cinnamon has been shown to improve insulin sensitivity
and lower blood sugar levels in people with diabetes. A study published in the
journal "Diabetes Care" found that taking 1 gram of cinnamon powder daily for 12
weeks significantly reduced fasting blood sugar levels in people with type 2
diabetes.
- Reduces cholesterol levels. Cinnamon may help lower cholesterol levels by reducing
the absorption of cholesterol from the gut. A study published in the journal
"Nutrition Research" found that taking 1 gram of cinnamon powder daily for 8 weeks
significantly reduced total cholesterol and LDL (bad) cholesterol levels in people
with high cholesterol.
- Fights inflammation. Cinnamon has anti-inflammatory properties that may help
protect against chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer, and arthritis. A
study published in the journal "Food & Function" found that cinnamon extract
inhibited the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines in human cells.
